Being Scottish, big things are expected of Ross, and we'll all be hoping we have the Reading equivalent of a young Ferguson/Moyes/Stein/etc in the making. The club would like to wish Ross all the best for the forthcoming season....

Latest News: Woodcote/Stoke Row FC - BTC Senior Cup winners 2010
Woodcote/Stoke Row 1st team took a massive support with them to the Madejski Stadium, for the final of the BTC Senior Cup versus Wokingham & Emmbrook A, and only went and won the cup! A solitary goal from Ross Weatherstone was enough for the Row to take the silverware, who clung on despite losing influential skipper Jim Hancock at half time. Congratulations to the playing squad, management and backroom staff, who all contributed to a memorable evening! Thanks must also go to sponsors Standrod Motors, who kindly provided warm-up tops for the evening.

Latest News: 1st team finish as Senior League Runners Up
The 1st team finished off their league season with a hard-fought away win over Cookham Dean. Although missing Worsfold and Higley, replacements Bull and Clark were more than able deputies. A goal from Jake Dillon was enough to settle the tie, which saw a solid defensive performance from the Woodcote midfield and defence. Unfortunately, the result was not enough to take the league title, as favourites YM were 5-2 winners over Mortimer, to end their season 2 points above Woodcote. The result did confirm runners up spot, Woodcote's highest ever league finish. Well done to everyone involved with the running of the 1st team, and all players who have played or simply made up the 1st team squads over the season. Everyone can now look forward to ending the season with an appearance at the Mad Stad.

The date for Woodcote/Stoke Row 1st team's BTC Senior Cup final has been announced, and will take place at the Madjeski Stadium, 7pm ko, on Friday 14th May. The opponents will be Wokingham & Emmbrook A. All support welcome....
Latest News: Champions! Wise heads under 12's to cup glory.
Woodcote/Stoke Row under 12's picked up the first silverware of the 2009/2010 season as they beat Boyne Hill Dragons at AWE Aldermaston on Sunday. Matty Wise headed home a James Back corner 15 minutes from full time to give the 'Lions' their first ever trophy. (see full match report)
Latest News: Get over and support the lads
Woodcote/Stoke Row under 12's are in cup final action this Sunday as they take on Boyne Hill Dragons in the Optiplan cup final. The game is 12.30 kick off on pitch three at AWE Aldermaston. Why not get over to support the boys and hopefully see them bring home the first silverwear of the season?
Latest News: Meaks names final squad
Under 12's manager Paul Meakin has named a 14 man squad for the Optiplan cup final against Boyne Hill Dragons on Sunday (12.30 kick off). Goal keeper Tom King is the only absentee from the squad after it was confirmed he sustained a broken thumb in the game against Eldon Celtic last week end and will miss the remainder of the season. Centre back Sean Donohue is expected to take over the goal keeping duties for the game which is being played at AWE Aldermaston. James Back and Robbie Carr return to the squad having missed last Sundays trip to Sol Joel.
Latest News: Title race hots up, as 1st team host Berkshire County Sports at the Rec
The race for the title hots up this weekend, as Woodcote/Stoke Row 1st team welcome Berkshire County Sports to the Rec, while elsewhere, rivals YM and Highmoor square up, in a weekend which will have a big impact on the destination of the title. With the 1st team not having played for a couple of weeks, manager McAlister will be weary of the threat posed by Berkshire County Sports, and a result in the favour of Woodcote is far from certain. This could be Sports last game in the Senior Division, and while games against Sports are never easy, they will want to finish their season on a high. Manager McAlister said "We need to focus all our attention on this game, and let games elsewhere take care of themselves. Lets see where we are at the end of the day." Good luck boys....
Latest News: King out of under 12's cup final
Woodcote/Stoke Row under 12's keeper Tom King will almost certainly miss Sunday's league cup final against Boyne Hill Dragons after breaking his thumb in 'The Lions' one all draw at Eldon Celtic on Sunday. King, who made his debut for Woodcote last Wednesday following a move from Goring Robins was injured in the build up to Eldon's equaliser at the weekend which came in the final minute of the match. The keeper will have a further scan on his thumb tomorrow but is a major doubt ahead of Sundays game.
Latest News: 1st team reach BTC cup final, Reserves end Rapids unbeaten run
Woodcote/Stoke Row 1st team made history for the club by reaching their first ever BTC cup final, to be held at Madjeski Stadium at a date to be announced. Woodcote were very much the underdogs against a YM side who had already beaten them twice in the league, and who manager McAlister had yet to beat in his tenure as manager. In an epic semi-final encounter, Woodcote came back from 2 goals down to lead 3-2 at half-time, before YM equalised to take the match into extra time. Woodcote took the lead again, only for YM to equalise once more, then some magic from Toby Nowell, and a Weatherstone penalty gave Woodcote the victory, and a day out at the Mad Stad to look forward to. Elsewhere, the Reserves made it a weekend double over YM, by beating their Rapids side (unbeaten in the league this season) 3-2. Yet more history was made when Robbie Lynch scored his first goal for the club in 23 seasons! Well done Robbie, and congrats to the 1st team. See match report for more details, and watch this space for details of the final...

Latest News: Fast Carr! Robert scores in 11 seconds for 5 star Lions
Woodcote/Stoke Row under 12's got their cup semi final group match off to flying start as they went 2-0 up in under 2 minutes against Cold Ash on Sunday. Robert Carr scored after only 11 seconds, finishing off a neat passing move straight from the kick off. Mattie Wise doubled the lead less than 90 seconds later to put Woodcote firmly in charge. Further goals from Wise, Aidan Coleman and Ben Tams saw The Lions run out 5-3 winners despite a late Cold Ash rally which saw keeper Sean Donohue save a penalty. Woodcote finish top of the semi final group and progress to the final on 25th April at AFC Aldermaston, (match report to follow)
Latest News: 1st team off to Taplow, Reserves host Hurst Reserves at the Rec
Woodcote/Stoke Row 1st team return to action, weather permitting, with an away trip to Taplow this weekend. Taplow away has always been a bit of a tricky fixture for Woodcote, with a history of ex-Taplow players coming to play for Woodcote spicing things up a little. However manager McAlister will be looking for his team to repeat the scoreline from when these two teams last met - Woodcote ran out 6-1 winners in a cup game at the Rec. Early team news is that Frank Dillon is unavailable through suspension, while Alex Darke may also miss the game - otherwise everyone else should be available. Meanwhile, the Reserves struggling season continues, and they will be hoping to attempt some sort of recovery with all their remaining games at home. Hurst Reserves are the visitors at the Rec. Good luck to both teams.
Latest News: Website returns, Reserves suffer another loss
Woodcote/Stoke Row are pleased to announce the return of their website, following downtime caused by the IT skills of Si Benham. Alas, there was no 1st team action this weekend, due to weather. However the Reserves did play, but lost 3-2 to Woodley Town A, at the Rec.
